Project: Largo Town Center Park Upgrade

Highway and Safety Services, Inc performed as the Prime Contractor on the $1.8-million project to upgrade the Largo Town Center Park. The project is located at the intersection of Largo Town Center Drive and Harry S. Truman Drive, in Largo Maryland 20785.  The project involves the construction of a neighborhood park on a two acre sloped and wooded site adjacent to an existing pond.  The scope of work includes the construction of approximately 200 LF of 10’ wide bituminous concrete trails, brick paving, custom fabrication of a 10’ x 40’ pre-engineered self-weathering pedestrian steel bridge, brick and stone paving, a terrace garden including brushed concrete steps with hand rails, 540 LF of stone veneered retaining walls, integral CMU and stone planters, a 1,600 SF “jumping jewels”/splash pad water play area with stone boulders, and landscaping to include 43 trees, 2200 SF of perennials and groundcover.    

The construction also includes installation of a street light, trench drain and pocket sand filter, a 1” water line and electrical services.  Other significant elements of the project include the construction of seventeen stone piers and metal fencing with an ornate park entrance sign.
